So the holiday finally begins....... I hope

Hi Everyone

Well the last two days have been spent shopping and helping Kearie move out. We had to take several suitcases, lots of bags and a full length mirror accross London yesterday morning. Luckily Bec and Marco helped us, poor Marco had to carry the mirror.... but we made it and then Kearie and I had to go back across the city to meet up with her landlord and finally move her out. We then went to the city and stayed in an hotel before leaving for France this morning. I was exhausted, my feet are still really sore, my knee did some sort of weird clicking thing and now I have a dicky knee. My back is having a weird spasm thingo of being agonising and then fine, it comes and goes and it is pissing me off.... So apart from falling apart, I appear to be fine.

I asked Kearie if the hotel she booked us into in Westminster last night had wifi and yes it did. Wonderful I thought, until I realised you had to go downstairs, across the road and up the street to use it, don't even ask!! They have some very odd hotels in London. As most of you know, I left home with very little clothing, the plan was to buy clothes over here. So I filled my suitcase with souvenirs for Kearie to give to her friends as going away presents and things for the tour de France. I was thinking I would have oodles of room for shopping, but somehow my luggage already weights almost 30 kilos and I have hardly brought anything.... I have no idea. I have taken some stuff for Kearie, she couldn't fit 2 years into 1 suitcase, but even so, something is not right. Of course the hotel gave us a room on the second floor, no lifts, just 4 flights of weird stairs, two to a floor. We had a young man to help us up last night, the concierge was feeling very sorry for me. But this morning I was over it. I was not going to carry that heavy suticase down the stairs and as throwing it out the window would probably be frowned upon. I decided to slide the bloody thing down each staircase. I checked no one was around and laid it down and gave it a gentle push, it only went about 4 steps. "Awesoem I thought and moving down beside it, I gave it another small push. Worked like a charm, took a while but I got that sucker down those first three staricases without any problems. Yep the first three, I laid it down on the fourth and gave it a small push, and off it went... it just didn't stop this time. All the way down and with a resounding crash, it landed at the bottom. Kearie was still two flghts up so she was freaking out that it was me that landed at the bottom, so I reasured her. She had seen what I was up to and she was still trying to unsuccessfully slide her luggage down the stairs. She has some kind of silly soft bag for her luggage, it has a pullout handle, it may look cool, but it has no sliding power at all. She had to give up and carry her luggage.... he he he. I may be old, but I'm not stupid, and no arguments from you lot either.

We finally arrived in Rouen in France this afternoon. The hotel is very nice and has real wifi, not the go out and up the road for kind of wifi. I have watched the stage of the tour, on TV, the first I have seen so far and have been for a lovely walk around the area. Kearie is sleeping. She hasn't had much lately, she has been up packing until 2 am some nights. So now I think we can relax and finally start our holiday. We are in a lovely area of Rouen, there is a wonderful old church just outside the hotel and some lovely closed to traffic streets to meander around. I am looking forward to finally relaxing and taking in the atmosphere and scenery. I will post a pic of the lovely church

Tomorrow the tour comes to town and I am really looking forward to it. I hope I can blog more frequently now and finally have things to blog about. Moving out has been very boring.

Take care all of you and I will talk to you again soon.

Cheers for now

Lones
